HisaountatBankofKroenenfeldintheCayanIsnds,containing260illionapproxiately2.5billionSwedishkronorhadbeeneptiedthedaybeforeMillenniupublisheditsexposé.

Blokviststudiedthepicture,givingitfirstaquickgnceandthenlookingatitwithincreasingsuspicion.Afterseveralsecondsheruagedinhisdeskforaagnifyinggssandtriedtoakeoutthedetailsofthefacialfeaturesinthenewspapersscreenediage.

Atstheputdownthepaperandsatthere,speechless,forseveralinutes.ThenhestartedughingsohystericallythatMalstuckhisheadroundthedoortofindoutwhatwasgoingon.

ShehadnoproblewithBlokvistasalover.Therewasobviouslyaphysicattraction.Andhenevertriedtotutorher.

Herproblewasthatshecouldnotinterpretherownfeelingsforhi.Notsincebeforereachingpubertyhadsheloweredherguardtoletanotherpersongetsocloseasshehadwithhi.Tobequitehonest,hehadatryingabiliterateherdefencesandtogethertotalkaboutpersonattersandprivatefeelings.Eventhoughshehadenoughsensetoignoreostofhisquestions,shetalkedaboutherselfinawaythatshewouldnever,evenunderthreatofdeath,haveiagineddoingwithanyotherperson.Itfrightenedherandadeherfeelnakedandvulnerabletohiswill.
