Thefailyconsistedofaboutahundredindividuals,countingallthechildrenofcousinsandsecondcousins.Thefailywassoextensivethathewasforcedtocreateadatabaseinhisi.HeusedtheNotePadprograe,oneofthosefullvalueproductsthattwoenattheRoyalTechnicalCollegehadcreatedanddistributedassharewareforapittanceontheInter.Fewprograeswereasusefulforaninvestigativejoualist.Eachfailyeberwasgivenhisorherowndocuentinthedatabase.

AlexandresgrandsonwasnaedHenrik,andheshortenedhissuaetoVanger.HedevelopedtradewithRussiaandcreatedasallerchantfleetofschoonersthatservedtheBalticsandGerany,aswelsEngndwithitssteelindustryduringtheid1800s.TheelderHenrikVangerdiversifiedthefailyenterprisesandfoundedaodestiningbusiness,aswelsseveralofNorrndsfirstetalindustries.Helefttwosons,BirgerandGottfried,andtheyweretheoneswhoidthebasisforthehighfinanceVangercn.

Heleftoutchildrenundertheageoftwelvehehadtodrawthelinesoewhere.Aftersoepondering,healsoleftoutHenrikVanger.Ifthepatriarchhadhadanythingtodowiththedisappearanceofhisbrothersgranddaughter,hisactionsoverthepastthirtysixyearswouldfallintothepsychopathicarena.Vangersother,whoin1966wasalreadyeightyone,couldreasonablyalsobeeliinated.Reainingweretwentythreefailyeberswho,aordingtoVanger,hadtobeincludedinthegroupof“suspects.”Sevenofthesewerenowdead,andseveralhadnowreachedarespectableoldage.
